VJ set in Perth, late 2007.

This was a live VJ set for the Byte Me festival in Perth. The stated theme was A Fairlight Fetish which meant in general 'old school' video effects. However I have only used a Fairlight for a brief period and my unit was broken, so instead I used a number of even older techniques: badly tuned broadcast through a time base corrector, reshooting from a screen, magnetic interference. Here and there I have used modern treatments to get an effect that I really wanted e.g. running ads backwards.

Some of the material was re-used from Turd Polish 3 but much of it was new. The new material was assembled in the weeks preceding the show. It therefore includes parts of the recent Australian federal election.

In the next few years analogue television will cease in Australia and we will no longer have the opportunity to use these wonderful tuning effects.
